Haruna revives career in Croatia, signs deal

By Sulayman Bah

Haruna Jammeh has taken a major step to revive his career leaving Hungary for Croatia where he‘d recently Haruna Jammeh 2signed the dotted lines, Foroyaa Sport can report.

An out-and-out striker, the Bakau New Town-born footballer spent six years with Hungary Premier league clubs Honved, Kopasvar and Lompard-Papa before opting for new pastures.

The erstwhile Samger Football Club and Gambia youth international had three seasons at Kopasvar with the first team having walked the long journey from the club’s reserves setup.

Failure to offer him improved terms coalesced with the club’s shock demotion to the second tier meant end of his love-affair with The Greens –a thing followed by a short stay at Lombard Papa a top flight side in 2014.

But owing to bouts of injuries, the 24-year-old saw his ambition to resume football go up in smokes, rendering him unable to play mid-through 2015.

However he’d found solace again having undergone an extensive recuperation and is now at least all smiles, signing a one-year deal with Croatian third tier side NK Koprivnica in a deal that runs until June this year.

The short term deal is aimed at building his confidence after enduring a long stay out in a bid to reacquaint with rigours of football ahead of a likely move to at least a bigger side at season’s end.

Capable of also featuring as a left-winger, Jammeh becomes the fourth Gambian to sign in Croatia after Pateh Nyang, Lamin Samateh and Alieu Darbo.
