Are there views addressed to Foroyaa critical of the press statement delivered by the SG of PDOIS?

Foroyaa has not received letters in that regard but would like to pick remarks made in social media and then encourage the Secretary General to respond in a respectful manner in order to open a column for political debate on divergent views. This is what is required of the media.

Section 208 makes it a requirement that “All State owned newspapers, journals, radio and television shall afford fair opportunities and facilities for the presentation of divergent views and dissenting opinions.”

However, this rule should not only be respected by the state-owned media. It should be equally respected by the non-state-owned media. The country is hungry for political debate that is enriching, enlightening and free from insult. In our next issue we will open this column to steer the political debate for a new Gambia and a new Gambian.
