WILL THEIR VOICES BE HEARD?

Leaders of petty businesspersons at Latrikunda Market have raised their concerns about the taxation regime. They decry the heavy burden of tax, pointing out that it is taking many of them out of business. They complain that the cumulative sum they are asked to pay for income tax, licence, rent and duty is beyond their means.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs has laid the revised estimates of revenue and expenditure for the year 2017 before the national assembly and the NAMs are to debate on it. Will this be an issue?
