By Sulayman Bah Serrekunda East will slug it out with Bakau in a repeat of the 2009 Super Nawettan final. East qualification followed their 9-8 penalty kicks win over tournament surprise package Bara Essau, Mayamba (BEM) yesterday evening at the Serrekunda West mini-stadium.Watched by a hundreds of supporters, the encounter was never lacking in adrenaline. BEM should have gone ahead when a swerving cross from the left skipped past mass legs of defenders in the box and controversially towards the goal line before East wake up from their slumber to clear. The incident generated hiss of disapproval from the loud fans at the stands. East replied on in the second-half but fell short of converting the chance with only the keeper to beat. Elsewhere at West, Bakau sashayed past Serrekunda West in the other semi-final clash consequently booking a place into the finals. The victory means they will be rubbing shoulders with long time rivals Serrekunda East for the title. The last time the two sides met, it ended in controversy -sparked off by a controversial goal scored by former Gambia U-17 starlet Buba –Meles Jallow for the East outfit. Bakau got banned for crowd trouble and some of East players suspended by the then GFA disciplinary committee. This weekend’s final will bring to light all these memories afresh.]]>
