Dibba out to replicate last season’s goal galore

By Sulayman Bah

Pa Amat Dibba wants a repeat of his last season form in front of goal this campaign after resumption of the Pa Amat Dibba 1Swedish premier league.

The striker notched up eight goals in his club GIF’s return to the top division – a thing which helped retain their top flight status following months of relegation flirtation.

His exploits, making him Sundsvall’s highest scorer the previous outing, was the talking points of pundits amid blizzards of interest in the Gambian from clubs in and outside of the Scandinavian country.

Aware of worth of their prized asset, Sundsvall did enough to ward off Dibba’s suitors at least to retain him for this campaign when his current contract will finally run out. Negotiations, between the Gambian and the club, over renewal of a contract extended two years ago, haven’t commenced yet.

However, while that could be a source of distraction, the scorpion, who led Gambia’s line against Mauritania on either leg, prefers to focus on doing what he does best –scoring and leading the line of attack.

‘I want to score many goals. But it doesn’t matter if I or one of my team-mates scores,’ he said on the aftermath of a one-all stalemate with AIK Solna. Majority of his eight goals last year were netted in away matches and Pa thinks he’s run out of luck doze on scoring at home.

‘We are a little calm away from home and my playing style fits a little better in those moments, but I think I had very bad luck at home. But it does not matter where I score, as long as we win, he continues.

The tiny quick-paced front-man starred in both fixtures for the senior scorpions but believes Gambia lost the first match in Nouakchott due to the poor pitch and the scotching heat.

‘The first match was not so good. It was quite hot and the pitch was poor. We did not get our game and we slacked at the last minutes. The home match was alright’ the 28-year-old explains.
