D Day For Ex-SG Sabally

Justice Emmanuel Amadi of the Special Criminal Division of the BanjulModou Sabally SG
High Court will deliver judgment in  the criminal trial involving the
state against Momodou Sabally, the erstwhile secretary general, head
of Civil Service and minister of Presidential Affairs today 22nd
September 2015.In the trial which lasted for more than 11 months, the prosecution led
by the Director of Public Prosecutions called ten witnesses and
tendered several exhibits, including the letter written by the accused
(Momodou Sabally) to the president. The Ex secretary general testified as a lone
witness in his defence.
The former Secretary General and head of Civil Service and Minister of
Presidential Affairs was indicted on eight counts of criminal charges,
ranging from two counts of ‘Economic Crimes’, three counts of ‘Abuse
of Office’, two counts of ‘Neglect of Official Duty’ and a single
count of ‘Giving False Information to a Public Officer to which he
denied culpability.
At the close of the defence’s case, both parties filed and adopted
